Nu Heavy Metal

This sub category of thick metal is termed as Nu Metal. Nu Metal might blend fashion and ingredients from Grunge, Punk and Hip Hop into their music. Many thick metal cd ratings might show an aggressive vocals, melodic singing and alternative types of hardcore punk were popular in Nu Metal music.

Spin magazine featured this fashion of metal music as “new metal.” The “new metal” expression was changed to “nu metal” after time pushed on and it was showcased in the movie”Get Thrashed.” This metal genre was introduced by Korn in 1990 and has grown through the 90’s into the year 2000.

Nu Metal’s recognition started to rise in 1998 when Korn’s 3rd album “Follow the Leader” available for 9 million duplicates internationally. After the doorways were opened for the nu metal community, nu metal bands came out to the public.

The community grew so did the nu metal bands. Bands like Coal Chamber, Limp Bizkit and Staind sold albums and became common after the launch of Korn’s “Follow the Leader.” These bands come from LA, California, like Spineshank, Coal Chamber and Static-X. Bands like Godsmack, Soufly, Distrubed, Limp Bizkit, Sevendust and Slipknot beginning creating an impact found on the nu metal community. All of these bands have had the chance to play in big metal tours like Family Values Tour, Lollapalooza, Ozzfest. The largest being the 30th anniversary of Woodstock that showcased largely nu metal bands.

As the nu metal genre grew thus did the amount of bands. Nu metal bands began releasing albums that earned the status of platinum, like Linkin Park, Papa roach, P.O.D and System of the Down. In 2001 nu metal reached its highest peak when it was considered the most well known metal music to hear to in America. At this time records labels were signing largely brand-new nu metal bands. With the genre being overloaded with unique bands, this lead to bad standard of music.

In the beginning of the year 2000, nu metal’s recognition began to decline and bands that began the revolution began to find a drop in sales to their brand-new introduced albums. With nu metal slowing down, the metal community moved on to the upcoming generation of metal music that is a pop / emo punk. Some nu metal bands have changed their design to test to target a few of this marketplace. But many have stayed playing the nu metal.
